The science is pretty clear on this one. Music helps with the retention of information in both short and long-term memory and with focus.
A Stanford University study showed that "music moves [the] brain to pay attention." The researches in this study utilized instrumental music - like the ones we use at Live Lingua - on their study volunteers and found "music engages the areas of the brain involved with paying attention, making predictions and updating the event in memory".
Seperate university studies have also found that "background music may enhance performance on cognitive tasks." These studies were conducted by having the study participants take multiple choice tests while music was playing. The study found that participants who had background music finished more quickly and got more correct than those who did not listen to music.
