Mae was born in Seoul and went to schools in Incheon, South Korea. She has a bachelor's degree in Korean language and literature, and a master’s in Psychology. She completed the training course for 'Teaching Korean as a second language' as well as TESOL certiciate course. She has been teaching Korean both as a first and second language to all age groups since 2007. She has taught from preschoolers to adults learners from varied cultural backgrounds both domestically and internationally. She also loves to learn other languages and experience different cultures, such as working and living in China and Cambodia, and visiting the Philippines and also a few East African countries and US.

I would describe my teaching method as practice based rather than lecture focused. Each course depends on the student's needs and level of proficiency. Most of the time I try to show letters, presentations(such as pictures and words), and encourage students to speak in the target language. In short, I think my teaching style and approach will help a lot students with some prior knowledges and learning experiences who are currently looking for speaking and writing practices.
