1. City Tour & Canal
During this tour, students will visit Casco Viejo and the Miraflores Locks of the Panama Canal. Casco Viejo is located at the mouth of the Panama Canal, and is the oldest city in Central America. This “Old Part,” is the most colorful part of Panama City. UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site in 1997. It’s a city within the city, and one from a different age. During this walking tour, guides will point out the different architectural styles. Students will visit churches and plazas while walking along brick roads. After the walking tour, students will be taken to the magnificent Miraflores Locks to witness this engineering marvel in action. A visit to the Canal’s museum with lots of artifacts, photographs, and videos that trace the canal area’s history from pre-Columbian times to the present is included in the tour. The trip starts and ends in Casa de Carmen. Transportation and a bilingual guide are included.
2. Embera Indigenous Village
The trip starts on the Chagres River at Lago Alajuela, from there students will ride in a traditional cayuco (dug-out canoe), to the Emberá indigenous village. At the village, students will be welcomed by the villagers who will give an introduction to the culture, religion, art, language, food, and lifestyle of their people. Students will be served a traditional lunch of Tilapia fish and fried plantains. Other presentations include a trail walk through the jungle, a musical dance and performance, and the chance to swim in a crystal clear river at a majestic waterfall.
3. San Blas Island Trip
It is not too much to say that Kuna Yala (or also called San Blas) is one of the most fascinating places in the Americans. This autonomous indigenous region in the Republic of Panama is comprised of an archipelago of 356 islands in the Caribbean Sea, of which only 51 are inhabited. With its virgin nature and beaches of white sand and pristine water, Kuna Yala deserves the name of “Pearl of the Caribbean”. For many years a hidden paradise on this planet, Kuna Yala is slowly opening its doors to foreigners. The adventure to this place begins with a 3-hour, four-wheel drive trip from Panama City to the place where you get on the boat to go to Cartí island. On the island, students will have a room in a home stay and three meals a day included as well as a daily snorkel/beach trip to a different island. This trip includes two nights in the islands. Students will also be brought back to Panama City.

One achievement for Spanish at Locations is that Oteima accredits our Spanish courses and for every 20 hours of study at our school, students can receive 1 credit point that is transferable to their University or High school. If they want to do so, they need to take an exam after finishing their program with us. This exam costs $ 75,- which students need to pay directly to the University. It is important to let us know about the student’s interest in taking this exam when enrolling.
SPANISH BY THE SEA – BOCAS got recognized by the German State BERLIN for the BILDUNGSURLAUB. For the moment only forA1 level but we hope soon to be able to also add A2 – B1 – B2 – C1 and C2.
